This library of articles is intended to act as a supporting document for students, who are interested in geo-engineering, especially in rock mechanics. It is not the aim to cover the topic "Geomechanics" in an exhausted manner, but do provide knowledge about selected topics at an introductory level.

This electronic text book is freeware, that means: it can be used free of charge, but it should be correctly referenced / cited, whenever parts of the content are used. Please note that this book is only for private and internal use.

This textbook is a "dynamic" one, in the sense, that content will continuously be updated and extended, starting in 2014 with the first few chapters. Also, colleagues, who are interested to contribute with additional specific chapters are welcome to contact us. We are aware, that nothing is perfect and without errors, therefore, do not hesitate to contact us in case you became aware of mistakes, errors etc. or with hints to improve the quality. The authors of the individual chapters are responsible for the content, which reflect their opinion or sight in respect to the corresponding topic. They and the editor do not take over any kind of responsibility.
