How is the TU Bergakademie Freiberg organised?
TUBAF is a small, specialised university with around 4,000 students. It is divided into 6 faculties:
- Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science

Freiberg has very good transport connections.
Road and motorway connections
- A4 (Dresden-Chemnitz) via the Siebenlehn exit and then via the B101
- A14 from Leipzig, Nossen-Ost exit and continue via the B101
- A17 (Prague-Dresden), via Dresden-Gorbitz and continue via the B173 to Freiberg
Train and public transport connections
- Freiberg railway station
- RE 3 (Dresden-Hof), RB 30 (Dresden-Zwickau), RB 83 (Freiberg-Holzhau) at hourly intervals

Freiberg is a small, quiet university town - ideal for starting out in independent life. The campus is well connected to the city. Everything is within walking distance.
How will my child be supported during their studies?
TUBAF offers:

- Subject-specific study counselling for each degree programme

How can my child finance their studies?
The costs of studying at TUBAF are comparatively low. The semester fee is around 100 euros per semester. The costs for housing and living in Freiberg are also low compared to other cities.
There are several options for financing your studies:
- BAföG (state funding)
- Scholarship programmes (e.g. Deutschlandstipendium)
- Part-time jobs at the university, in the city or in industry
- Support from parents or family
What happens if my child has doubts about studying?

What leisure and sports activities are available on campus and in Freiberg?
TUBAF has numerous student initiatives and working groups in which your child can actively participate. From the astronomy club to the photography club, the bicycle club, the environment club and the big band; there are many ways to spend your free time
You can try your hand at sports at the University Sports Centre. There are numerous courses here every semester that are inexpensive for students. There are also many sports clubs in the city of Freiberg that your child can join. The area surrounding Freiberg is ideal for hiking, cycling and climbing. If you like diving, you can train to become a scientific diver (ISO-certified).

Freiberg also has a lot to offer culturally. In addition to various museums, the cathedral and the Central Saxon Theatre, there is also a cinema in the city. Every year, Freiberg welcomes many visitors to the Bergstadtfest and the Christmas market.
