We are excited to welcome Dr. André Dietrich and Dr. Georg Jäger as deputy Professors for the professorship of Artificial Intelligence in the winter semester 2025/26. Both are already familiar faces at TUBAF, are active in research and teaching and have proven expertise in the field of artificial intelligence. In their role as deputy professors, they will continue teaching in the subject area and set their own professional accents.

The deputisation ensures continuity in the teaching programme and at the same time opens up new perspectives within the existing academic environment. We look forward to working together and welcome Dr. Dietrich and Dr. Jäger to their new roles!

About Dr. André Dietrich

Dr. André Dietrich completed his doctorate at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg in the field of Embedded Systems and Robotics with a focus on distributed systems and the Internet of Things (IoT). His research deals with questions of efficient data acquisition, storage and processing in distributed environments.

In the course of his scientific and technical work, he developed a particular interest in programming languages and paradigms as well as web technologies. This connection has resulted in numerous research and development projects, including SelectScript (a declarative query language for simulations, distributed and embedded systems), LiaScript (a Markdown-based language for interactive teaching and learning materials) and Edrys-Lite (a peer-to-peer system for decentralized remote labs).

His current focus is on interactive Open Educational Resources (OER) and browser-based technologies, with the aim of making digital teaching practical, accessible, and sustainable.

About Dr. Georg Jäger

Dr. Georg Jäger conducts research in the field of Smart and Connected Cyber-Physical Systems, with a focus on sensor data processing, uncertainty modelling, and the safe application of artificial intelligence. Application fields for his research is primarily mobile robotics and he uses the interdisciplinarity as a source for further use cases.

His interest in these areas already developed during his studies (B.Sc./M.Sc. Computer Systems in Engineering) at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, which he completed in 2016. He then completed his doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) at TU Bergakademie Freiberg with a successful defence in 2022. After a postdoctoral stay at the Universidade de Lisboa (Portugal), he returned to research and teaching at TUBAF and is currently one of the deputy professors of the "Artificial Intelligence" professorship at the Institute of Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science.
