The Freiberg Employment Agency and the TU Bergakademie Freiberg signed a cooperation agreement on 8 September 2026. Through better-coordinated advisory services, the university and the Employment Agency aim to encourage young people to remain in Central Saxony after completing school, university or vocational training.
From school to university, from university to work, or from work back to university. Both the Central Student Advisory Service and the Career Centre at TU Bergakademie Freiberg, as well as the Career Information Centre run by the Employment Agency, advise young people from Central Saxony on their decisions regarding these transitions. By coordinating their efforts more effectively, these two institutions ensure a successful academic journey, help students make informed choices about career-oriented degree programmes, and provide close guidance to university graduates as they transition into employment.
This expanded collaboration will take effect right from the start of the 2026 winter semester. The Freiberg Employment Agency will offer a monthly career guidance session at the Technical University to provide advice on job applications. Furthermore, the partners are expanding the range of support available for students who are unsure about their studies or are considering dropping out, and information on the labour market will be provided. Participation in the TU Freiberg’s ORTE careers fair is an integral part of the Freiberg Employment Agency’s activities and will continue, with the aim of presenting the range of services on offer as well as the Federal Employment Agency as an employer.
The university benefits from the Freiberg Employment Agency’s knowledge of Central Saxony as a business location, as well as from the findings of labour market research. The Employment Agency gains insights into university access, the content of the more than 60 degree programmes offered by TU Bergakademie Freiberg, and student motivation. Through this partnership, both parties aim to encourage even more prospective students from the region to pursue a degree ‘on their doorstep’ and to retain them in the region throughout their future careers. The TU Bergakademie Freiberg has been collaborating with the Freiberg Employment Agency for more than ten years. The recent renewal of the partnership now confirms this successful collaboration and responds to new demographic and labour market challenges.

Through the various advisory formats, we reach numerous young people at different stages of their personal and professional development and can provide tailored advice on exciting career opportunities. The collaboration with the Freiberg Job Centre is extremely valuable to us, as it allows us to reach beyond prospective students. We also connect our highly qualified graduates with a labour market in which recruiting skilled workers is one of the most pressing challenges.”
