Empowering Chilean Hydrogen Students: Fostering Excellence in Hydrogen Education at German Universities

Germany and Chile share ambitious goals on the path to climate neutrality. The import of so-called “green” hydrogen has been declared as one of the central pillars for achieving the goal of climate neutrality by 2045 by the German national hydrogen strategy. One of the most important challenges for the realization of hydrogen projects is the training of skilled workers.

The "Empowering Chilean Hydrogen Students " scholarship program aims to provide outstanding students from Chile with the opportunity to pursue higher education in hydrogen-related fields at a leading German university, TU Bergakademie Freiberg. This program is designed to foster academic excellence, promote international collaboration, and contribute to the development of expertise in the field of hydrogen.

The Chile Scholarship is supported by the hydrogen industry (e.g., VNG). The grant shall be used to provide excellent Chilean students with a monthly financial support throughout 24 months (2 years).

In order to receive the Chile Scholarship, an application must be uploaded to the corresponding website of the ‘Verein der Freunde und Förderer der TU Bergakademie Freiberg’. Once approved, however, the scholarship will only be paid out once the applicant has arrived in Freiberg and has been enrolled on a degree programme at TU Bergakademie. The application for admission to study at TU Bergakademie can be submitted at the same time as the application for the Chile Scholarship.

Recommended Fields of Study

Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to pursue a bachelor’s or master's program in hydrogen-related disciplines offered by the TU Freiberg, e.g., the following English master courses:
