On this page you will find the most important information about the Metallic Materials Technology (MMT) degree programme, primarily for students who have already been admitted and need information about the start of the first semester.
If you have not yet applied, you can find information about the degree programme on the degree programme page.
Admission to this degree programme takes place in the winter and summer semesters. Teaching in the winter semester 2025 begins on 20 October.
In addition to the general information events organised by the International Centre, the faculty also offers introductory events specifically for MMT in September/October:
The following introductory events take place for the English-language Master's degree program Metallic Materials Technology in the winter semester:
- Presence, 16. October 2025, 9:30 am, MET-2065 (Gustav-Zeuner-Str. 5, 2nd floor)
In these events you will receive all relevant information about the study programme. The following are points that are often requested in advance.
Compulsory modules for first-year students are (with link to OPAL course), of which only ‘Fundamentals of Foundry Technology’ is offered in presence in the winter semester (regularly in the summer semester):
- Fundamentals of Foundry Technology
- Fundamentals of Metal Forming
- Fundamentals of Steel Processing (online)
- Introduction to Nonferrous Metallurgical Processing
- Materials Science and Mechanical Properties of Metals
There is also a German course. You can start with the basic course (A1.1), but if you want to start at a higher level, you must present a corresponding German certificate.
Possible compulsory elective modules:
- Mecanics of Materials
- Stochastic Methods for Materials Science
- Experimental Methods of Strcture Characterization of Matters
- Operations Management
- Additive Manufacturing of Metallic Components
Descriptions of the course content can be found in the module handbook.
