Many thanks for your opinions, criticisms and suggestions as part of our feedback programme.

Once again, we would like to take this opportunity to respond. There was a lot of feedback, so we will try to summarise the diversity of the comments below:

„The air conditioning is sometimes set too cool“
„Air conditioning inside the reading rooms is very pleasant“
Unfortunately, opinions on the temperatures in our reading rooms are divided and reflect different perceptions and needs. Our reading rooms have an average temperature of 24° and the ventilation system regulates this by blowing in warmer or cooler air.

„Leave the shades up, the sun is nice and can hardly dazzle“
Here too, opinions are divided and opinions differ. For this reason, there is a corresponding weather station on the building that automatically controls the lowering and raising of the blinds based on the solar radiation and at the same time prevents the blinds from constantly being raised. Manual operation by library staff is possible, but this means that we please some people, while others feel disturbed. Feel free to contact us if you suspect a complete failure.

„The tables are usually quite dirty“
„There is no toilet paper!“
„Cleanliness in the entire building is poor“
We're sorry about that, of course. Our cleaning staff do their best and are always on the go for you in the mornings. Perhaps you can help by leaving our premises and workplaces clean and tidy. Unfortunately, we keep finding that - despite the ban - food and drinks are brought into the reading rooms, which are mainly responsible for the soiling and damage and can no longer be removed.

Nevertheless, we will pass on your feedback to our cleaning company.

„A water dispenser for filling up drinking bottles would be very practical“
Until recently, we always had to turn down this request, citing high costs and no suitable connection. TUBAF's construction and building management has now found a solution and a water dispenser will be installed in the cloakroom area on the first floor. We'll let you know when it's ready.

„Too bad there are no sockets in the Workbays“
As these work areas can be flexibly organised together with the (swivel) chairs and small tables, no sockets have been planned in either area. You are welcome to use our charging cabinets at the information desk for safe charging during your break.

„Terrace is probably little used because, for example, eating is not allowed there“
„No Wi-Fi on the terrace“
Especially now during the summer, the terrace is used quite frequently. We have extended the opening hours as there was also a lot of demand at the weekend. The technical problems with the Wi-Fi have also been resolved since last week. Unfortunately, we are unable to lift the ban on smoking, eating and drinking (with the exception of water). The terrace is part of the library area and is therefore also subject to the rules of use. The terrace also has a sensitive floor covering, and eating always brings dirt and rubbish with it, which in turn attracts odours and insects and quickly soils the actual recreation area. It is difficult for the library and security staff to control a relaxation of the ban for just one area. We hope you will understand!

„Drilling work during the main testing phase“
„It would be nice if the doors worked again“
Construction and drilling noise is annoying, yes. But it usually brings improvements for the users and employees of the building. For example, the installation of WiFi repeaters can resolve network outages that have been criticised. The lack of bicycle racks and the eternal diversions via the car park are currently being remedied by the completion of the science corridor. Other defects in the building and the technology also need to be rectified, often at short notice and often depending on the availability of the relevant trades. So please excuse construction noise in the building as well as longer-lasting defects, e.g. on the doors. If possible, we postpone long-planned and major construction work or maintenance activities to a time when there are fewer users or inform them accordingly in advance.

„It would be great to have shelves for the baskets in the lockers“
In addition to the existing table, we will purchase further storage options within the available space.

We also receive positive feedback, which of course makes us particularly happy: (Image_3)

„Everything is great here“

„Very pleasant learning atmosphere“

„Thank you for this great library, it is a pleasure to write my thesis here“

If you have any questions, criticisms or requests, please continue to use our feedback boxes in Reading Room 1 and in the staircase area in front of Reading Room 2. Please enter your e-mail address so that we have the opportunity to answer you directly. You can also contact us personally during our service hours or by auskunft [at] ub [dot] tu-freiberg [dot] de (e-mail).

Thank you very much, your University Library!
