"Technology of beer production"
On Friday, 6 June 2025, the annual brewery excursion took place as part of the "Technology of Beer Production" lecture.
This year, we went to the Hartmannsdorf brewery for the first time. We learned many details about brewhouse organisation, wort preparation, fermentation control, storage and maturation, filtration and bottling at close quarters. Each student was also able to "twist" a pilsner and a red beer directly from the fermentation tank. Finally, there was a sensory training session on differentiating between varieties and quality assurance.
We would like to thank Mr Hörnlein, Managing Director of the Hartmannsdorf brewery, for a very interesting and accessible excursion.
