Every degree programme is based on study and examination regulations. These determine the content of the degree programme, all regulations, deadlines and other important facts. Below you will find an overview of the degree programmes offered at the Faculty of Chemistry, Physics and Biosciences. An overview of all regulations for all degree programmes at TU Bergakademie Freiberg can be found here.

In order to adapt to the current range of courses on offer, the Faculty Council can decide on changes to the compulsory elective area of the degree programmes at the suggestion of the respective study commission. The resulting updates to the curriculum, examination schedule and module handbook are provided below.

BNAT - Changes

  1. The new examination and study regulations apply from WS2025/26.

    Disclosure of the new examination and study regulations

    Information:

    All students study according to the new study regulations. For those who started according to the old regulations from 2015, the following transitional regulation applies according to the study regulations:

    "(3) These regulations also apply to students who studied according to the examination regulations for the Bachelor's degree programme in Applied Natural Sciences at the TU Bergakademie
    Freiberg from 19.08.2014 (Official Announcements of TU Bergakademie Freiberg No. 12 dated 28.08.2014) with regard to
    1. all modules whose courses end in the winter semester and whose examinations they will take for the first time from the winter semester 2025/26 and
    2. of all modules whose courses end in the summer semester and whose examinations they will take for the first time from the summer semester 2026.
    (4) Students pursuant to paragraph 3 may choose the following additional compulsory elective modules:
    Biocatalysis and Genetic Engineering (6 CP)
    Introduction to Bioinformatics (6 CP)"

  2. The compulsory elective module "Procedural Programming" (2/0/0; 6 CP) by Prof. Zug was cancelled and the module "Procedural Programming" (2/0/0; 6 CP) by Prof. Zug was cancelled. Zug was deleted and the module "Collection, Analysis and Visualisation of Digital Data" (2/0/0; 6 CP) by Prof. Zug was integrated. (as of 21 March 2024)

MNAT - Changes

  1. The following will soon come into force (after approval by the committees) (12 May 2025):
  • "Intellectual Property Law" (WP, 3 CP, WiSe 2/0/0/0) will be cancelled and replaced by "Introduction to Innovation Law" (WP, 6 CP, WiSe 2/2/0/0).
  • "Environmental Process Engineering" (WP, 8 CP, summer semester 3/1/0/2) is cancelled and replaced by "Environmental Process Engineering without Internship" (WP, 6 CP, summer semester 3/1/0/0). If interested, the module can be taken with an internship upon application to the examination board and if there is sufficient capacity.
  1. The following changes are effective (12.05.2025)
  • "Inorganic Solid State and Materials Chemistry" (WP, 6 CP) - complete in the winter semester and 1 SWS Ü becomes a practical course: WiSe 3/0/0/3.
  • "Semiconductor Chemistry" (WP, 6 CP); lecture from SoSe is moved to WiSe: WiSe 4/0/1/0
  • "Kinetics and Catalysis" - change of PVL
  • "Coupling Methods in Analytical Chemistry" - change of PVL
  1. Disclosure of the current amendment statutes (as of 10.07.2024)
    This includes the following significant changes:
  • "Biotechnology in Mining" will no longer be offered from WiSe 2024/25
  • "Enzymes: Purification, Characterisation, Mechanisms" will no longer be offered from WiSe 2024/25"
  • "Bionics" will be replaced by "Bioinspired Materials and Technologies". The SWS and CP will change (WP, 3 CP; SoSe 2/0/0/0 - WP, 5 CP; SoSe 4/0/0/0)
  • "Stress Physiology and Rhizosphere Chemistry" will be replaced by "Stress Physiology and Material Fluxes". The SWS and the LP change (WP, 4 LP; WiSe 2/0/0/1 - WP 5 LP; WiSe 2/0/1/1).
  • In the module "Extremophiles - Lifestyle and Biotechnological application" the SWS, LP and the rhythm change (WP, 4 LP; WiSe 2/0/0/1 - WP, 5 LP; WiSe 2/0/1/0; biennial).
  • In the "Molecular Ecology of Microorganisms" module, the CPs change (WP, 4 CPs; winter semester 1/0/1/1 - WP, 5 CPs; winter semester 1/0/1/1).
  • "Environmental Behaviour of Organic Pollutants" will be replaced by "Environmental Toxicology & Environmental Analysis"
  • "Alternative Solar Cell Concepts" will no longer be offered from winter semester 2024/25
  • In the module "Physics and Characterisation of Industrial Solar Cells" the SWS , LP (SP, 3 LP); SoSe 2/0/0/0/0 - SP, 6 LP); SoSe 3/1/0/1 Excursion 0.5 d).
  • In the "Semiconductor Chemistry" module, the SWS (WP, 6 LP; WiSe 3/0/1/0, SoSe 1/0/0/1 - WP, 6 LP; WiSe 4/0/0/0/0) will change.
  • The "Industrial Photovoltaics" module will change from a specialisation module to a compulsory elective module.
  • In the module "Numerics for science and engineering degree programmes", the SWS and LP change (WiSe 2/1/0/0/0; SoSe 2/1/0/0/0 - WiSe 2/1/0/0/1; SoSe 2/1/0/0/0).
  1. The compulsory elective module "Surface and Solid State Spectroscopy" (2/0/0; 3 CP) by Prof. Knupfer has been cancelled and the module "Spectroscopy" (4/0/0 + Exc. 1 SWS; 6 CP) by Prof. Knupfer and Dr Roth has been integrated. (as at 21.03.2024)
  2. The compulsory elective module "Laser Physics" (2/1/0 + Exk.; 3 CP) by Dr Himcinschi was changed to (2/2/0 + Exk. 5 CP). (as of 21 March 2024)

Diploma Chemistry - Changes

In the summer semester 2025, the 1st amendment statutes come into force. The most important changes are

  1. The lecture "Legal Studies" will take place one last time in the summer semester in 2025; from the winter semester 2026/27, the module will take place entirely in the winter semester.
  2. From the summer semester 2025, the module "Advanced Inorganic Molecular Chemistry" will take place entirely in the summer semester and the module "Inorganic Solid State and Materials Chemistry" will take place entirely in the winter semester.
  3. Possibility of a supplementary oral examination after the first repeat examination (see § 14 para. 2 PO).
  4. "Problem-oriented project work" (currently compulsory module) becomes compulsory elective module.
  5. Possibility of choosing study specialisations (see § 22 para. 4 PO).
  6. Changes to the CP of compulsory modules (Chemical Thermodynamics and Kinetics, Experimental Physical Chemistry, Theoretical Physical Chemistry).
  7. Omission of several PVLs of the advanced modules.

BCH - Changes

In the summer semester 2025, the 1st amendment statute comes into force. The most important changes are:

  1. Lecture "Legal Studies" will take place one last time in the summer semester in 2025, from the winter semester 2026/27 the module will take place completely in the winter semester.
  2. Possibility of a supplementary oral examination after the first repeat examination (see § 14 para. 2 PO).
  3. "Principles of Organic Synthesis" (currently a compulsory elective module in the Bachelor's programme) will become a compulsory module in the Master's programme in Chemistry.
  4. Prerequisite for registering for the Bachelor's thesis: Degree of all compulsory modules of the first two years of study.
  5. Changes to the CP of compulsory modules (Chemical Thermodynamics and Kinetics, Experimental Physical Chemistry, Theoretical Physical Chemistry).

MCH - Changes

In the summer semester 2025, the 1st amendment statutes come into force. The most important changes are

  1. From summer semester 2025, the module "Advanced Inorganic Molecular Chemistry" will take place entirely in summer semester and the module "Inorganic Solid State and Materials Chemistry" entirely in winter semester.
  2. Possibility of a supplementary oral examination after the first repeat examination (see § 14 para. 2 PO).
  3. "Principles of Organic Synthesis" (currently a compulsory elective module in the Bachelor's degree programme) becomes a compulsory module in the Master's degree programme in Chemistry, while "Modern Reagents and Methods of Organic Synthesis" becomes a compulsory elective module.
  4. "Problem-oriented project work" (currently a compulsory module) becomes a compulsory elective module.
  5. Possibility of choosing Master's specialisations (see § 22 para. 4 PO).
  6. Prerequisite for registering for the Master's thesis: Degree of 30 CP from the compulsory modules and 45 additional CP.
