European Li-Resources: Characterization and New Beneficiation Approaches

European Li-Resources: Characterization and New Beneficiation Approaches

Lithium (Li) is a fundamental raw material for the production of batteries and other technologies that enable a green transition. In fact, currently there are no viable alternatives to the use of Li-ion batteries. Recent studies show that by 2040, up to 90% of the demand for Li will come from the battery manufacturing sector, acting as a major driver for environmentally friendly technologies.

Whilst Lithium can be mined in many areas on the planet, it needs to be imported in the EU for domestic production and uses. The Project Li4Life aims at reducing the dependency from external sources by making more efficient and sustainable the access to Li in European deposits and tailings that are underutilised.

Particularly interesting for the Li4Life Project are poor and/or complex ores (petalite, lepidolite, swinefordite and zinnwaldite) sites located in Czechia, Spain, Finland and Serbia. Another objective is to introduce new environmentally friendly downstream processes to successfully create new Li value chains for Li battery-grade concentrates.

This workshop aims to promote cooperation, to share knowledge regarding European Li-sources and their characterization as well as new beneficiation methods. This event is particularly interesting for industry professionals, academia and anyone working in the raw materials sector.
