Once again, TU Bergakademie Freiberg has achieved excellent results in the CHE ranking. In the survey conducted by the Centre for Higher Education Development, students particularly praised the good study situation in Freiberg, excellent study organisation as well as the high practical component and support for degrees in a reasonable amount of time. Master's students from the fields of mechanical engineering, process engineering and materials science were surveyed. The CHE ranking has been published at HeyStudium, DIE ZEIT's portal for student orientation.
The Master's students at TU Bergakademie Freiberg awarded almost full marks (4.8 and 4.7 stars respectively) for the general study situation and study organisation as well as the excellent support provided by the teaching staff. In terms of the general study situation, TU Bergakademie Freiberg is therefore above the national average of 4.2 stars.
Practice-oriented, well-organised and leading to a Master's degree in a reasonable amount of time
"The Master's degree programmes at the Faculty of Mechanical, Process and Energy Engineering are continuously being developed, always taking into account suggestions from the student body. At TU Bergakademie Freiberg, students can choose from an extensive range of compulsory elective modules and do not have to commit to a rigid specialisation," says Professor Andreas Bräuer, Dean of the Faculty.
Professor Horst Biermann, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology, adds: "A Master's degree programme at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology at TU Bergakademie Freiberg is characterised by its research strength and practical relevance, which is also reflected in the topics of the students' theses. In addition, studying at the faculty is characterised by a good supervision ratio."
Studying at a research-strong university
In addition to the student survey, the research data of the participating universities was also compared. Mechanical engineering is also in the top group in terms of research funding per researcher (503,000 euros according to the CHE). This results in good conditions for research-oriented studies and optimal support for young academics.
Background: The CHE University Ranking
The CHE Master's Ranking surveyed almost 10,000 Master's students nationwide on their study conditions in general as well as on specific criteria such as supervision, support during regular studies or for a semester abroad, courses offered, study organisation or examinations in particular. They also assess the career guidance programmes, the academic and practical relevance, the rooms, the library facilities and the IT infrastructure. The Master's degree programmes in engineering and psychology were newly evaluated. Further information
