Ceremonial Event
10 Years of the Günter Heinisch Foundation for the Geoscientific Collections
The Günter Heinisch Foundation can look back on 10 years of existence. Günter Heinisch, who died in 2013, had appointed the Association of Friends and Sponsors of TUBAF e.V. as co-heirs. A three-member foundation board was appointed to manage the start-up capital of 1.5 million euros and report to a board of trustees. The foundation serves the following charitable purposes: the scientific management and expansion of the collections, the promotion of innovative research approaches related to the collections, the promotion of the public image of the collections, and the promotion of public educational programmes using the collections.
After welcoming remarks by the rector and the mayor, Prof. Brezinski will speak about the foundation. Curator Andreas Massanek will present the minerals acquired by the foundation and the scientific projects. Finally, Dr Klaus Erler will provide insights into exciting stories from the ‘life cycle’ of some of the mineral specimens.
Following the colloquium, the special exhibition ‘Günter Heinisch makes it possible’ will be opened in the Wernerbau in the form of an intervention.
