On this page you will find the most important information about the Metallic Materials Technology (MMT) degree programme, primarily for students who have already been admitted and need information about the start of the first semester.
If you have not yet applied, you can find information about the degree programme on the degree programme page.
Admission to this degree programme takes place in the winter and summer semesters. Teaching in the winter semester 2024 begins on 14 October.
In addition to the general information events organised by the International Centre, the faculty also offers introductory events specifically for MMT at the begining of October:
In these events you will receive all relevant information about the study programme. The following are points that are often requested in advance.
Compulsory modules for first-year students are in the winter semester (with link to the course in OPAL):
- Fundamentals of Foundry Technology
- Fundamentals of Metal Forming
- Introduction to Nonferrous Metallurgical Processing
There is also a German course, for which placement tests must be completed by the beginning/mid-October (exception: starting course level A1.1)
Possible compulsory elective modules:
- Mechanics of Materials
- Experimental Methods of Structure Characterization of Matters
- Stochastic Methods for Materials Science
- Operations Management
- Software Tools for Computational Materials Scientists
Descriptions of the course content can be found in the module handbook.
