The university offers degree programmes with solutions for digital challenges of the future such as robotics, mathematics in economics, engineering and computer science or industrial engineering, prepares its students for digital professions in digital labs and gaming apps as well as with data and AI skills and digitises application, enrolment and study organisation.

Learning 4.0 with cross-reality labs

Vision of the CrossLab project is a real lab that can be controlled digitally from a different location. Since 2012, a total of four universities have been working together under the leadership of TU Freiberg. The Cross Reality Lab is thus becoming a cross-university, interdisciplinary network of digitalised laboratory modules that can be used for various courses as required.

Learning successfully with a games app

An app that allows students at TU Bergakademie Freiberg to learn about entrepreneurship shows that learning and playing complement each other well. Solve a quiz, create a business plan, discover your own entrepreneurial personality and develop important skills: Individually or in teams, students can playfully solve practical tasks and engage in duels. The gaming app complements the content of the entrepreneurship lectures for students of business administration and other degree programmes at TU Bergakademie Freiberg and has been in use since summer 2022.

Excellent digital equipment in lecture theatres and the university library

In recent years, the university has created attractive learning spaces for collaborative, digital and accessible learning and the development of ideas and projects with modern lecture theatres. Thanks to powerful projections, cameras and studio technology, the new lecture theatres are ideally equipped for the latest forms of teaching and learning. The mixed reality room in the university library is also a centrepiece of innovative teaching at TU Bergakademie Freiberg. There, students can work on 3D models themselves using virtual reality glasses and gain insights into current technical developments using existing models from chemistry, palaeontology and mining.

About the "Digital Campus" survey

In the survey conducted by Uni Now GmbH, around 12,700 students from 239 universities across Germany cast their votes and assessed how digital their university is in the areas of teaching, facilities and administration. The Digital Campus Award was presented by UniNow for the first time in 2024 and will increasingly be used in subsequent years to assess German universities' own progress towards digital teaching, research and administration.
