Prof. Dr Gero Frisch has been elected as the new Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Physics and Biosciences. His three-year term begins on 1 May 2025.

He succeeds Prof Dr Jens Kortus (Theoretical Physics), who headed Faculty 2 as Dean for a total of nine years and will now take on the role of Vice-Dean. The previous Vice-Dean was Prof Dr Carla Vogt (Analytical Chemistry).

Gero Frisch was a Research and Teaching Fellow at the University of Leicester (UK) for six years before joining TU Bergakademie Freiberg in 2013 as Junior Professor of Resource Chemistry. In 2017, he was appointed Full Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and since then has led the Salt and Mineral Chemistry working group.
