The official kick-off mid January 2026 at the consortium leader Schaeffler in Herzogenaurach marked the start of the ReDriveS lighthouse project funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The aim of the joint project with 25 partners from industry, SMEs and research is to develop automated, digitally networked and sustainable recycling management solutions for electric axle drives. The TUBAF team at the Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy and Purest Materials led by Professor Alexandros Charitos and Daniel Vogt is working on innovative recycling processes for rare earth magnets.
ReDriveS combines robot-assisted dismantling, innovative recycling of strategic materials and digital twins to increase resource efficiency and resilience in the automotive value chain. The kick-off meeting will focus on greetings from politics and business, keynote speeches from industry and research and the presentation of the overall project. The presentations of the work packages and the report by the project organiser TÜV Rheinland Forschungs- und Innovationsmanagement GmbH followed on the second day.
