We operate a whole range of laboratory and pilot-scale systems to support technology development and optimisation as well as the validation of the solutions developed.

Research context/concept

The "Plant Operation" department deals with the planning, construction and operation of pilot and test plants on a semi-industrial scale. This allows process developments, optimisations and equipment to be tested directly and realistically. In individual test campaigns, the feasibility of innovative concepts and the balancing of process chains are demonstrated on an industrial scale.

Typical tasks

  • Conception, planning, construction, assembly and operation of pilot and test plants as well as test stands
  • Determination of process engineering design parameters for the planning of industrial plants
  • Optimisation of process control and technical equipment
  • Sampling under operating conditions (high pressure, high temperatures)
  • Development, implementation and operation of complex measuring systems
  • Provision of synthesis gas products for external investigations
  • Visualisation of flames under high pressure and high temperatures
  • Testing of new, robust and highly efficient burners for extreme operating parameters
