Excursion to the Lichtenberg dam

The Lichtenberg dam has been in continuous operation for around 50 years. In the waterworks
Lichtenberg and Freiberg, the reservoir water is treated to produce drinking water to supply around 200,000
people in Freiberg, Central Saxony and Chemnitz. In order to ensure the provision of raw water
for the water supply and to ensure the operation of the dam in the future, extensive refurbishment is necessary.

We now have the opportunity to visit the dam wall of the drained reservoir.
