Lending

A large part of the University Library's collection can be borrowed. A library card is required for borrowing.

The loan period for students and non-academic staff of TU Bergakademie Freiberg as well as guests is 28 calendar days. Longer loan periods apply for the user group of professors and academic staff of TU Bergakademie Freiberg.

Media can be borrowed independently via the self-checkout terminals on the 1st floor. You need a PIN to borrow media, which you can set up via your user account.

  • Media
    • from the reference collections and the semester collections
    • that are older than 100 years
    • that are younger than 100 years and have a high material or non-material value
    • loose-leaf collections and typewritten media
    • that are unsuitable for lending due to their size (e.g. maps), weight or state of preservation
    • . e.g. maps), their weight or their state of preservation are unsuitable for lending
    • DIN standards, microforms and special collections

Extension

In principle, loan period extensions are possible. However, this does not apply to reserved media that must be returned on time.

You can extend your loan period online via your user account before it expires. Of course, we also accept renewal requests by telephone or ausleihe [at] ub [dot] tu-freiberg [dot] de (email).

Renewal requests for interlibrary loans must be made by telephone (Tel.: +49 3731 39-2818) or fernleihe [at] ub [dot] tu-freiberg [dot] de (email). The decision lies with the lending library.

Return

During opening hours

Borrowed media can be returned quickly and contactlessly via the return machine on the ground floor. A student ID or library card is not required when returning items.

Borrowed items can also be returned during our service hours at the Circulation / Information on the 1st floor.

Sending media by post

It is also possible to send borrowed media by post and is done at your own risk and without issuing a return slip. Please enclose an informal covering letter with the return request.
