On septembre 26, the UltrasounDD Symposium 2025 took place in Dresden - a full day of inspiration, scientific exchange, and exciting insights into the future of ultrasound technologies.

We from MSE Lab had the great pleasure of serving as Co-Chair, contributing to the organisation, and Prof. Kupsch was giving an opening keynote lecture entitled "From Signals to Meaning in Wearable Ultrasound: Systems, Architectures and Applications". Kupsch was giving an opening keynote lecture entitled "From Signals to Meaning in Wearable Ultrasound: Systems, Architectures and Applications." The MSE Lab also presented a live demonstration of a wearable ultrasound system. In addition to the talks, the large number of demonstrations was a true highlight, making the symposium highly interactive and practice-oriented.

Personal Highlights

Among the many excellent contributions, I was particularly inspired by:

  • Christoph Leitner on "Modularity Matters: Wearable Ultrasound System Design Concepts"
  • Almario Escorcia on "Making Ultrasound Wearable: A Look at Current Research and CMUT-Based Innovations for Pregnancy Monitoring"

New Formats and Active Participation

For the first time, we introduced Focus Sessions. In these, participants worked in groups on emerging topics in Wearable Ultrasound and High-End Ultrasound, leading to intensive exchange and new ideas. It was especially rewarding to see that not only experts but also students from TU Bergakademie Freiberg actively participated, contributing fresh perspectives to the discussions.

Thanks and Outlook

A special thanks goes to my Co-Host Moritz Herzog and the entire Hybrid Echo Team for their outstanding support in organising the event.

Overall, the UltrasounDD Symposium 2025 was a day full of highlights, fresh impulses, and a strong sense of community. We are excited to see how these ideas will continue to grow in the coming years and we are looking forward to UltrasounDD2026!
