At the Night of Science and Business (NdWW), the university and city offer a colourful programme for the whole family. This year, TU Bergakademie Freiberg is putting prospective students centre stage at the science location on the Unicampus North around Agricolastrasse and Lampadiusstrasse and will be offering even more activities for young people in 2026.

We look forward to welcoming many visitors to Freiberg together with the city for the Night of Science and Business. We particularly invite young people to discover our campus as a place where they can shape their future. With our research topics, we are putting the major challenges of today and tomorrow on the agenda. The Night of Science and Business is also a magnet for curious people from the region - anyone can experience Freiberg as a place of relevant science, a strong economy and a promising future.

Many offers are also particularly suitable for families with younger children. On the programme website, they can be found with their own label.

Even more highlights at the science centre

For anyone interested in research in Freiberg, the laboratories and technical centres on the North Campus will be open for the Night of Science and Industry. In the recycling technology centre, visitors can learn how discharged batteries are dismantled so that as many recyclable materials as possible can be recovered. They can observe currents in various liquids at a giant flow system and learn how exoskeletons support physically strenuous work in the movement laboratory.

The inner courtyards of the technical centre buildings will be transformed into a field of experimentation all night long with more than 170 individual offerings: From edible molecular cuisine or membranes made from apple scraps to mobile phone recycling and e-fuels to delivery, swimming and diving robots.

Visitors can delve even deeper into the world of water at the Scientific Diving Centre's diving tower in front of the Audimax. Divers will be demonstrating their tasks and fields of activity live underwater.

In the lecture halls and seminar rooms of the University Library and the Centre for Efficient High-Temperature Material Conversion, several lectures and demonstrations will be held throughout the evening, including on the materials glass and ceramics, drilling into the deepest underground and geotechnics in everyday life or the history of science and the collections of TU Bergakademie Freiberg.

Business mile at the new canteen

The central location for the night is the North Campus with the university buildings and the canteen, as well as the squares along Lampadiusstraße, Agricolastraße and Winklerstraße. This creates shorter distances between the stations and ensures that there is more time to immerse yourself in programmes, experiments and discussions. At the same time, the Business Mile continues to grow as more companies from all over the city present themselves in the Winklerstrasse 3 - 5 car park area.

The Night of Science and Business is a joint project of the university and the city and takes place every two years.
