Venue: Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics (Kharkiv, Ukraine)
Session: Round table “Academic Freedom and Inclusion in the Digital Age”
The EdAccession – Education System Change with EU-Accession project was presented at the Annual International Scientific Conference “Economic Development and Legacy by Simon Kuznets.”
During the round table Academic Freedom and Inclusion in the Digital Age, the team disseminated the project’s aims, methods, and early results, linking them to current priorities in higher education: digital transformation, academic freedom, accessibility, and inclusivity.
What we presented
  • Project vision & objectives: supporting systemic alignment of higher education with EU standards—curriculum modernization, micro-credentials and stackable learning paths, and digital-by-design delivery.
  • Inclusion & accessibility: principles of universal design for learning, multilingual support, flexible pacing, and accessible learning materials.
  • Multi-institutional cooperation: pathways for co-teaching and teacher-twinning, virtual/hybrid mobility, and shared quality assurance.
  • Pilot activities: examples of course/module updates and micro-credential pilots; initial feedback from students and staff.

Discussion highlights
Participants engaged in a lively exchange on:
  • balancing academic freedom with institutional standards in modular and micro-credential formats;
  • ensuring quality, assessment, and recognition of short learning experiences;
  • practical measures to scale accessibility and inclusivity in digital environments;
  • building sustainable cross-university collaboration to support learners across borders.
Outcomes
The session confirmed strong interest in EdAccession’s approach and produced new contacts for joint pilots and staff development. Several universities expressed willingness to explore stackable modules, shared digital campuses, and common recognition rules for micro-credentials.

EdAs Erasmus workshop
Online workshop on Erasmus+ mobility successfully held within EdAccession project
On 28 November 2025, the EdAccession project successfully held an online workshop on Erasmus+ student mobility, bringing together 54 participants in Microsoft Teams. The event was organised for Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students interested in spending a study semester or traineeship at a university in the EU.
The workshop was led by Anja Wigel, Coordinator for International Mobility at the International Office of TU Bergakademie Freiberg. She presented the different types of Erasmus+ student mobility, eligibility criteria and main requirements, as well as the step-by-step application process. Participants learned which documents are needed, how grants for living and travel are calculated, and what to consider when choosing a partner university and preparing a strong application.
A special focus was placed on practical tips for studies abroad and on what students should do after being selected: necessary preparations, approvals, and organisational steps before and during their stay abroad.
The workshop concluded with a lively Q&A session. Students asked numerous questions about deadlines, scholarships, recognition of studies, choice of host universities and application strategy, which showed the high level of interest in Erasmus+ mobility opportunities.
We are very pleased with the active participation and engagement of all 54 attendees and hope that the information provided will encourage even more students to apply for Erasmus+ mobility in the upcoming calls.
