Law too theoretical; classical business studies a mass subject? If you are interested in a combined degree programme instead, TUBAF is the right place for you. From 1 April 2026, prospective students can apply online for the "Law and Business" degree course. The German language degree programme was designed as a diploma programme so that the diverse and interrelated content can be taught in a well-founded manner and, above all, deepened. In addition, the diploma degree opens up access to employment in the higher civil service, which is not possible with a bachelor's degree.

The new interdisciplinary degree programme Law and Economics starts at TU Bergakademie Freiberg in October 2026. By closely interlinking legal, economic and business history content, students will develop a strong interdisciplinary understanding: they will learn to systematically analyse business law problems and develop viable solutions - precisely where law and business meet in practice. "Our courses are research-based and address current topics - digital transformation and the circular economy, for example. Students can develop a specific skills profile as part of their studies and develop their potential in the best possible way," says Dean of Studies Professor Ronny Hauck.

Setting your own focus in the diploma

The new diploma degree programme will replace the Bachelor's degree programme Business and Law from the winter semester 2026/27. The total study period of ten semesters offers students more elective and specialisation options: "The compulsory modules first lay a specialist foundation and then go into greater depth on the content that is particularly relevant in professional practice. The focus here is on central legal and economic topics. The compulsory elective modules also open up a wide range of opportunities for students to develop their individual profile, for example in the areas of corporate management and organisation, entrepreneurship, energy and raw materials management or international economics," says the Dean of Studies.

High practical component in the degree programme

Another special feature of the degree programme is its practical orientation: case studies, contract analyses, workshops and integrated internships ensure a direct link to the professional world. As a result, graduates are ideally prepared to identify legal risks in economic contexts at an early stage, draft legally compliant contracts and evaluate operational decisions from a legal and economic perspective - whether in companies, public authorities or in research and development.

Apply from 1 April

Prospective students with an Abitur or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification can apply online for the new degree course from 1 April 2026. Enrolment for the winter semester 2026/27, which starts in October 2026, ends on 30 September 2026.
