Printed journals

The library's current, unbound journal issues are organised alphabetically by title in the journal flaps of the three reading rooms.

Older bound volumes are either freely accessible on the shelves in the reading rooms (also organised alphabetically by title) or shelved in the closed stacks. For the volumes from the stacks, the journal shelfmark must be determined in the catalog. The desired journal volume can then be ordered at the Lending / Information desk.

Journals can only be used in the library.

Electronic journals

Furthermore, there is the possibility to access a large number of electronic journals up to full text via the catalog. Information on all licensed journals is also listed within the Electronic Journals Library (EZB).

Daily and weekly newspapers

Regional and national daily and weekly newspapers are available in the lending/information area. These can only be used in the library.

The printed editions of "Die Zeit" and "Handelsblatt" are kept in the stacks for one year retrospectively. All older volumes of "Freie Presse", "Wochenspiegel" and "Blick" are bound and shelved in the closed stacks.  They can be accessed via the title in the catalog and ordered at the Lending / Information desk.

Campus-wide, over 200 newspapers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland can be accessed in the databases "WISO" and "FAZ Bibliotheksportal", which provide publications from 1993 onwards, including the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung".

The Zeitschriftendatenbank (ZDB) provides information on the printed and electronic journal holdings of many libraries in Germany and Austria.
The holdings of Freiberg University Library are catalogued under the identifer "SAX, DE-105".
