Pupils are invited to build a model ship out of plastic waste in the "Science meets School" competition organised by the TU Bergakademie Freiberg student laboratory. Participants whose ship can be loaded with the highest weight can expect great prizes. The deadline for entries is April, 22 2024.
Materials that can be disposed of in the yellow bin (i.e. plastics) may be used to build the model ship with the specified dimensions. The ship should float with a load for as long as possible. Particularly tricky: no liquid glue may be used.
Participation until 22 April
Also, the task of the participating students is to record the development process of their model ship in a log. Interested parties (in teams or individually) have until the 22nd of April 2024 to submit their ship. The projects will then be assessed by a jury from TU Bergakademie Freiberg based on the load bearing capacity, creativity and quality of the development protocol.
Various prizes await the four winners of the competition: In addition to an action camera or an e-book reader, he winners will also have the opportunity to take part in an exclusive research day. Together with researchers from TU Bergakademie Freiberg, they can produce their own materials, carry out various tests on materials and look forward to further surprises.
Pupils from all general and vocational schools are eligible to take part. The task is suitable for interested groups or individuals.
