Two motivated young talents began their vocational training at TUBAF on 1 September 2026. One trainee is completing his training as an industrial mechanic at the Foundry Institute, whilst another is training to become a chemical laboratory technician at the Institute of Technical Chemistry.
Six trainees successfully completed their training in 2026 and were all retained by TUBAF. Head of Human Resources Katrin Porrmann extends her thanks to those who contribute to the success of the training programme at the university: “Many thanks to all the trainers who undertake the training programme alongside their other duties.”
With the new intake, the university is now training a total of 17 apprentices. “Anyone who chooses TUBAF as their training organisation not only receives practical training of the highest standard, but also gains insights into research and teaching,” explains Porrmann. The TU Bergakademie Freiberg was recently awarded the “Vorbildlicher Ausbildungsbetrieb” seal by the Chemnitz Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
The first day of the 2026 apprenticeship programme began with an official welcome for the apprentices at the university administration offices by the Head of Human Resources and her staff. To give them an initial overview of the university, this was followed by a trainee orientation tour including a tour of the campus and a group lunch.
