Claudia Kallmeier has been the new Head of University Communications (D5) since 1 April 2026. She succeeds Dr Sabine Schellbach. The graduate journalist brings expertise in the diverse tasks of university communication from the press office at TU Dresden, among others. However, she has also already gained experience at TUBAF.
"I am very much looking forward to working with the D5 team, the Rectorate and the entire university. But I also have respect for the task, because the challenges are huge," says Claudia Kallmeier. "The most pressing issue is student recruitment. We need to get the campaign for the coming winter semester off the ground quickly. We also need the support of the faculties for this." In the future, the aim is to make the strengths and unique selling points of TU Bergakademie Freiberg even more visible in terms of study and research. This includes expanding science communication and optimising the website. New structures are also needed for internal communication and cooperation with the faculties.
Claudia Kallmeier studied journalism at the University of Leipzig and worked for various print media and in cultural communication. From 2013, she was press officer at TU Dresden, including three years as press spokesperson in a senior position. In 2024, she moved to TU Bergakademie Freiberg, where she was involved in various projects at Faculty 2 and the Graduate and Research Academy in the areas of project management and science communication.
