Personal Information
The participation of PhD students, staff and guests depends on availability. Priority is given to students in degree programs where German language is a mandatory or elective course.
German language courses are free of charge for enrolled students and PhD students of TU Bergakademie Freiberg. Please add your student number or application number below.

Staff and guests are required to pay a course fee of 290 € per semester. You will receive an invoice. Please add the mailing address for the invoice below.

Admission Requirements

You passed a German course at TUBAF during the winter semester of 2025/26.

  • -> Registration for the next higher course level

You have a certificate from a recognized language institute (e.g., Goethe, telc, ÖSD, Sprachunion, Acatrain e.V.), another university in Germany, or a partner university.

  • For A1 - Registration for A1.2 in the 2026 summer semester or for A2.1 in the 2026/27 winter semester
  • For A2 - Registration for A2.2 in the 2026 summer semester or for B1.1 in the 2026/27 winter semester
  • For B1 - Registration for B1.2 in the 2026 summer semester or for B2.1 in the 2026/27 winter semester
  • For B2 - Registration for B2.2

You have a certificate of attendance for a German course at TUBAF. You have taken a course here in the past but did not successfully complete it (e.g., failed the exam, did not meet the prerequisites). 

  • -> Registration for the next higher level + placement test

You have a certificate from a language institution that we do not recognize or a certificate of attendance from a German language course.

  • -> Registration for the next higher level + placement test

You do not have proof of language proficiency (certificates from online placement tests are not accepted).

  • -> Registration is limited to German A1.1 for the 2026/27 winter semester

(Information about the entrance exam will be sent via email after your registration has been reviewed. Appointments (March 30 - April 8, 2026, in person) can then be booked via OPAL.)

Choice of German Course

Choose a German course for the summer semester 2026. 

Students: The first course option must be a course planned for your student group. (If no course is planned for your student group, please specify two course options of your choice.)

Other interested parties: Please indicate two course options of your choice.

Check that the course options you have selected actually fit into your schedule.

Please note that the choice of course must match your language proficiency certificate. (E.g. if you have an A1 certificate or a certificate of participation for a German course at level A1, you can only register for an A2.1 course.)
