AI-Assisted Programming: Productivity Gains or Technical Debt Trap?

Generative AI coding tools promise dramatic productivity improvements, but what are their long-term consequences? Drawing on developer interviews and dynamic simulation modeling, this talk explores how AI-assisted programming affects software performance over time. Findings reveal that while moderate AI use can enhance productivity and profitability, excessive reliance may accelerate technical debt and undermine long-term value. The presentation discusses how organizations can balance AI adoption with sustainable software development practices.
