The Collections of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg: On the Way to Computer Tomography - 250 Years of Development of Scientific Instruments and the Equipment Collection for Mineral Determination
Scientific findings are inconceivable without measuring instruments and imaging procedures. When assessing the relevance of scientific results, the methods used to obtain them must always be taken into account.
In his lecture, Dr Ferdinand Damaschun, mineralogist and until his retirement Deputy Director General of the Museum of Natural History Berlin, will present the development of scientific instruments such as microscopes, goniometers and refractometers using the collection of the Museum of Natural History. This will be followed by a guided tour of the historical collection of instruments for mineral determination in the corridors of the Abraham-Gottlob-Werner-Bau.
The event will take place on 16 November at 5 pm. The meeting point is the foyer of the Werner Building at Brennhausgasse 14. Admission is free, interested persons are cordially invited.
