Andreas Fischer passes PhD exam with distinction at the University of Siegen
Andreas Fischer, M.Sc., formerly a member of Prof. Bernhard Eidel's DFG Heisenberg group at the University of Siegen, passed the oral defence of his doctoral thesis on 6 November 2025 and received the overall grade “mit Auszeichnung” (with distinction). He submitted a cumulative dissertation comprising five publications in international peer-reviewed journals on “Beiträge zur Numerischen Homogenisierung mikroheterogener Materialien mittels Zwei-Skalen Finite Elemente Methoden” (Contributions to the Numerical Homogenization of Microheterogeneous Materials using Two-Scale Finite Element Methods). The examination committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Peter Kraemer (Chair), Prof. Dr. Kerstin Weinberg, Prof. Dr. Chuanzeng Zhang, Prof. Dr. Robert Plato, and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Eidel (since 2022 at TU Freiberg). This outstanding result reflects Andreas's excellent scholarship and dedication—congratulations, Andreas, very well done!
