Today (11 April 2025), TUBAF Professor Henning Zeidler was admitted to the technical science class as one of eight new members at the Academy's public spring session.

"Being elected as a full member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences and Humanities is a great honour for me. I am very much looking forward to working together, especially to the exchange across disciplinary boundaries," says Professor Henning Zeidler. The engineer has held the Chair of Additive Manufacturing at TU Bergakademie Freiberg since 2017. There, he researches and develops additive manufacturing technologies, often referred to as "3D printing", using a wide variety of materials. He is also involved in machining and ablation processes along the additive process chain, such as surface finishing using plasma-electrolytic polishing. In addition to the scientific foundations for the processing of conventional and sustainable, renewable raw materials, Professor Henning Zeidler is particularly focused on the transfer of results into practice.

In a video interview with the Saxon Academy of Sciences, he reveals how he explains his specialist field to a doctor or a sociologist and which topic he would like to discuss first within the Academy:
