TUBAF employee wins Ring Running Series 2025 at the Hockenheim-Ring

Rarely have the temperatures at the Hockenheimring been so low during a running event. Nevertheless, on Saturday 22 November 2025, 360 runners took part in the Ring Running Series over the marathon distance at -4 °C. Jonas Hünersen from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg running team was among them. For about the first 25 kilometres, he ran together with Berlin beased runner Jan Höing . However, Hünersen then pulled away and ran to a well-deserved marathon victory. He completed in 2:37:01 hours between waving Formula 1 finish flags.

The Unisport running group from TUBAF trains every Wednesday at 6 p.m., meeting in front of the Glück-Auf sports hall at the university sports centre. It is a mixed group ranging from beginners to ambitious hobby runners. The groups focus is on having fun when running, but it also looks for challenges in joint competitions such as the SHM in cross-country running or the Freiberg Advent Run.
