In May 2008, the local network for the Mittelsachsen district was established. The TU Bergakademie Freiberg has been a network partner from the beginning, and Veronika Bellmann, a Member of Parliament, assumed patronage. Since 2008, training in the field of natural sciences and technology for early childhood education has been offered to educational professionals from daycare centers in the Mittelsachsen district.

Previously organized in cooperation with the nationwide foundation "Haus der kleinen Forscher" (House of Little Researchers), a new direction has been taken since 2021 with the reorganization and new premises in the Kunsthandwerkerhof at Burgstraße 19 in Freiberg. The new facilities reflect the university's commitment to organizing and showcasing these offerings in the Mittelsachsen district. More than 90 daycare centers are members of the local network.
