1. General information

The theme of the competition is to showcase international experiences as the focus of photographic interest. Participants can enter the photo competition by submitting up to three of their own original photos as digital image files via the online form at https://tu-freiberg.de/iuz/fotowettbewerb-teilnahme. Entries must be submitted within the deadline specified below. Participants are responsible for ensuring that their details, in particular their email address, are correct.

2. Participants

Only students, employees, other members of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and guests are eligible to participate.

3. Implementation and processing

Each participant may submit up to three photos they have taken themselves. Participants must have unrestricted copyright and usage rights to the photos. The motifs must not contravene the legal provisions of the country of origin, the legal provisions of the European Union or the personal rights of the persons depicted. Each image must be submitted in digital JPEG format by uploading it via the online form at  by 31 August 2026. Participants must have read and accepted the conditions of participation. The image size must be at least 2,500 pixels for the longest side (depending on the image format – portrait or landscape). The file size must not exceed 10 megabytes. Participation is only possible via the online form at https://tu-freiberg.de/iuz/fotowettbewerb-teilnahme

Entries submitted by other means will not be accepted, will not be evaluated and will not be returned.

Each participant must provide the information and descriptions requested in the online form for their uploaded photos: title, name of the participant, location where the photo was taken, approximate date of the photo, short accompanying text (300–500 characters) in German or English.

The final selection of the winning images will be made by a jury. The winning photos will be exhibited at the International University Centre (IUZ) of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Prüferstraße 2, 09599 Freiberg. Participants agree that their names will be mentioned as the authors. In addition, three prizes in the form of vouchers will be awarded. Prizes cannot be paid out in cash. The winners will be notified by email by the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. If the participant does not respond within a reasonable period of time after two requests, the prize may be transferred to another participant.

Participants may withdraw their photos from the competition at any time by sending an email to Birgit [dot] Seidel [at] iuz [dot] tu-freiberg [dot] de (Birgit[dot]Seidel[at]iuz[dot]tu-freiberg[dot]de). This does not apply to photos that are selected as winners after judging.

All submitted photos that are not selected as winning entries will be deleted after the end of the photo competition.

The closing date for entries is 31 August 2026.

5. Copyright and rights of use

If one or more persons are recognisably depicted in the image, the persons concerned must agree to the image being published. Participants shall confirm the above in writing upon request. Should third parties nevertheless assert claims for infringement of their rights, the participant shall indemnify TU Bergakademie Freiberg against all claims. Computer-edited photos may not contain any image parts from magazines, books, purchased CDs, etc.
