The Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism (SMWK) provides Georgius Agricola scholarships to attract young specialists and managers for science, business and society in the Free State of Saxony.
The focus of the funding is on students in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (STEM subjects).
1. Georgius Agricola Merit Scholarship
The aim of the Georgius Agricola Scholarship Programme is to attract and retain specialists and managers for science, business and society in the Free State of Saxony.
Support is provided to students in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (MINT subjects).
Support is provided to foreign students in diploma and bachelor's degree programmes from the third semester onwards and to foreign students in master's degree programmes from the second semester onwards who have achieved outstanding academic results.
- Amount of funding: €300 per month
- Scholarship period: 1 April 2026 – 30 September 2026
- Application deadline: 31 March 2026

2. Georgius Agricola Grundstipendium
International first-year students from a country of the current DAC country list (link target: oecd.org) who are starting their studies in a Bachelor's or Diploma programme at TUBAF in October 2025.
To attract future specialists and leaders for science, business and society in the Free State of Saxony, Georgius Agricola scholarships are provided by the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism (SMWK).
TU Bergakademie Freiberg is offering a "Georgius Agricola Grundstipendium". The funding is primarily aimed at students in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (STEM subjects).
Eligibility criteria
- You are an international first-year student* enrolled on a Bachelor’s or Diplom degree programme at TUBAF
- You will commence your studies in October 2026 (winter semester 2026/2027) in the first academic semester
- You are a national of a country on the current DAC country list (link target: oecd.org)
- You hold an above-average university entrance qualification
Amount of funding
992.00 euros per month
Duration of funding
Start: 1 October 2026; end: the end of the standard duration of your degree programme or until 30 September 2029 at the latest.
Each semester, an assessment will be carried out to determine whether the scholarship holder’s aptitude and academic performance justify the continuation of the scholarship.
