Novalis-Forum - Novalis Forum - "Apostle of the Sceptics" C. S. Lewis as a Guide for Critical Contemporaries

Speaker: Dr Norbert Feindegen, Bonn

Only recently Netflix announced the filming of the "Chronicles of Narnia" and the classic "Mere Christianity" ("Pardon, I am a Christian") is also read millions of times worldwide. The Oxford literary scholar C. S. Lewis (1898-1963) was behind this. He is one of the most influential Christian authors of the 20th century. 60 years after his death, there is no end in sight to his popularity.

What many do not know: Lewis was himself an atheist for many years. Throughout his life, however, he engaged with Christianity in a sceptical and critically questioning manner. Insights into aspects of the thought and work of C. S. Lewis make him a discussion partner to this day for those contemporaries to whom the Christian faith is foreign or who increasingly doubt it.

Dr. Norbert Feindegen did his doctorate on C.W. Lewis and is now a freelance author and lecturer in adult education.
