Lecture series: The Collections of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg - The Collection for Mining Studies (Treptow Collection)

In addition to the historical model collection, the "Collection of Mining Science, Processing and History of Mining" contains around one thousand original mining tools such as miner's lamps, pump pistons and steel cable samples from hoisting ropes. There are also artefacts from ancient Roman, South American and Japanese mining. The collection is named after Professor Emil Treptow (1854-1935), who reorganised and continuously expanded the objects.

On 7 December at 5 p.m., curator Dr Andreas Benz will give an insight into the collection, which is housed in the depot of the main university building. The meeting point is the foyer at Akademiestrasse 6. Admission is free and anyone interested is cordially invited to attend.
