The International Office supports international students at the beginning of their studies in Freiberg:
CONFIRMATION OF RESIDENCY: Special appointments on 12 October
The Freiberg Citizen's Office offers special registration sessions for international first-year students to register with the City of Freiberg ("Meldebescheinigung", Confirmation of Residency):
- 12 October, 9.00 am–12.00 noon
Venue: Bürgerhaus Freiberg (Citizen's Office), Obermarkt 21
How to get an appointment: Please register for the Orientation events of the International Office. Alternatively, you can send an e-mail to orientation [at] iuz [dot] tu-freiberg [dot] de (orientation[at]iuz[dot]tu-freiberg[dot]de). Once you have registered at the International Office, you will be sent a link to register an appointment at the Citizen's Office Freiberg.
When visiting the Citizen's Office: Please arrive at the citizens office a few minutes beforhand your booked appointment. Tell the member of staff at the service desk (ground floor) that you have an appointment for the city registration ("Meldebescheinigung"). You will be given a queue number, which will appear on the screens in the waiting area shortly afterwards. A room number will also be displayed next to it. Please go to this room as soon as your queue number appears on the screen.

The Welcome Point of the International Office is located in the main university building, Akademiestraße 6, room EG.20.
If you need help getting started with your studies at TUBAF, do pop in. An experienced student assistant will be on hand to answer your questions. You’ll also receive the printed Welcome Guide at the Welcome Point (see below).

Welcome Guide
The Welcome Guide is a manual for dealing with the numerous formalities after arrival in Freiberg/Germany.
The folder also contains important information about studying at TUBAF, such as exam registration and re-registration for the next semester. Finally, you will find all PowerPoint presentations of the Orientation Events in it.
The Welcome Guide is available in printed form as well as online on the teaching and learning platform OPAL.
(Note: A TUBAF user ID is required to download the files. New students receive this with their enrolment).
Welcome Gift and Questionnaire
International first-year students can receive a TUBAF backpack as a welcome gift. Further information will be published on this website soon. We are asking international first-year students to complete this online-questionaire on the topic ‘How did you hear about TUBAF as a place to study?’ in order to receive the welcome gift. Once you have completed and submitted the online questionnaire, a password will be displayed. Please make a note of this password or take a screenshot and have it ready when you collect your welcome gift.

The orientation week was extremely successful and I am saying this based on the fact that I am completely new to Germany and Freiberg. However, with the help of orientation week events, I got to know many of the peer students of this intake. Additionally, with the help of the orientation week event, I have learned a lot about the university, the city of Freiberg and some great people working here at the university.
