This year, terra mineralia is celebrating its 15th anniversary as one of the largest mineral exhibitions in the world. Since opening in 2008 (last partial opening in April 2009), the mineral exhibition at TU Bergakademie Freiberg has welcomed over 1.2 million visitors on a "journey around the world" with over 3,500 minerals, gemstones and meteorites. A varied and attractive programme will be held to mark the anniversary on 6 September 2024.

The anniversary will begin with a festive event at which the newly designed introductory area will be inaugurated. From 6 pm, all interested parties and guests will be able to explore the modernised exhibition area on the 5th floor of Freudenstein Castle, which has been adapted to meet the needs of visitors. From 6 pm and until 9.30 pm, interested parties have the opportunity to take part in special guided tours of terra mineralia, the Krügerhaus, the Mineralogical Collection in the Werner Building or all three exhibitions. A special admission fee of €4.00 includes all guided tours on this evening.

The City and Mining Museum will also be taking part in the anniversary with "Stories of and with Minerals". There will be one reading each at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm in the new extension building (Am Dom 1, 09599 Freiberg).

There will be additional arts and crafts activities from 4pm to 7pm. With these offers, the new Freiberg Museum Mile will be celebrating its anniversary.
