Show lecture 2024
It is the year 1 after the fierce battle for supremacy over the periodic table of elements. Since the fateful day when Gaia Julia Caesia brominated all the elements, the entire periodic table has been living under the yoke of the Bohemian conqueror. The entire periodic table? No, because a small group of elements in the middle of the p-block is putting up fierce resistance! Indix and Germanix live in Gallium and are constantly trying to kinetically inhibit the spread of Bohemia. Will they manage to stand firm against Brom and Caesia or will they also drown in the floods of Brom?
If you want to find out whether Indix and Germanix can stop Brom, then come to our show lecture on December 18 and 19 in Lecture Hall B of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg University Library!
We look forward to seeing you there!
How does our show lecture actually come about?
You can read all about it in detail in the June issue of Chemistry News! From student recruitment to science communication and a love of drama, it's all there!

We are the show lecture team of Faculty 2 of Chemistry, Physics and Biosciences. Since 2019, we have been organising an experimental lecture every year during the Christmas season to showcase what chemistry and physics have to offer!
Just after the Christmas period, we are in the follow-up period of the last show lecture, but new ideas for the 2024 show lecture are already sprouting up in spring.
In order to be able to pass on our enthusiasm for our subject, we have summarised the experiments from our show lecture in an experimental database that can be used by teachers in chemistry lessons. This database has become one of our ongoing projects and an important mainstay.
In the current year, we are also presenting our fascination for the natural sciences at other events, such as the Long Night for Science and Business and the Faculty 2 School Chemistry College.
