As part of the recomine project Muldenhütten as a place of learning, teaching and mediation, the Institute of Industrial Archaeology, History of Science and Technology at TU Bergakademie Freiberg is presenting the second project exhibition on the history of the World Heritage site Muldenhütten from 1825 to 1910 under the title "Good for Freiberg! - Muldenhütten on the way to the industrial age".
In the presentation room of the Freiberg Mining Archive, the exhibition uses numerous historical models and documents as well as interactive and audio stations to show the development of Saxony's oldest and most important smelting site from the pre-industrial era around 1825 to the industrial smelting complex around 1910. The exhibition is dedicated to the innovative technological developments in Muldenhütten as well as the social and ecological consequences and the scientific, economic and political context of the production of silver, lead, zinc and other products at the site.
The exhibition was realised by the recomine project team in collaboration with the Custody of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and the Saxon State Archives of the Freiberg Mining Archive. The exhibition is supported by private and public lenders as well as the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
The exhibition is open to the public free of charge every Saturday until 31 May 2025 from 10 am to 5 pm and on Wednesdays from 2 pm to 5 pm.
