Exkursion "From crude steel to car"

Dear students, as you may be aware, the Institute of Metal Forming organizes several student excursions to various companies in the relevant industry every year. This is to be done again this year, during the week of 25.09. to 29.09.2023.

The following companies will be visited this year: ThyssenKrupp, BMW, Otto Fuchs, C.D. Wälzholz, KME and Schmiedewerke Gröditz. The following topics have been selected as focal points: Blast furnace, LD steel mill, continuous casting and hot strip rolling, cold rolling and heat treatment of alloy steels, press shop and body shop, extrusion and 3D printing of Al, Mg, Cu, Ti and Ni alloys, flat and wire rolling of Cu alloys, forging and ring rolling.

Transfer will be by coach. Accommodation will be in JHB. Breakfast and dinner are included in the JHB. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the purpose of the excursion. For the visit to the BMW plant, please bring your own work shoes, otherwise you will not be admitted to the press shop. A fee is required for participation.
