9th Workshop: Digitisation in the geoscientific collections
The Saxon universities in Freiberg, Leipzig and Dresden, the Saxon State Office for the Environment, Agriculture and Geology, the Senckenberg Natural History Collections in Dresden and Wismut GmbH have extensive stocks of ore sections. Digital availability would considerably facilitate and, above all, expand the use of the analogue collections. The technical prerequisites are already in place at the university library in Freiberg with the automated Zeiss Axio Imager Vario microsection scanner and the powerful TUBAFmedia image management system.
In the eighth workshop "Digitisation in geoscientific collections", metadata concepts and applications will be discussed on the basis of experience with the automated Zeiss Axioscan 7 thin section scanner.
Representatives from universities, museums, companies and offices are invited to take part in an interdisciplinary exchange, as are representatives from computer science and engineering.
