We welcome all students to the first semester at our university, provide orientation to the start of studies in the central introductory event and familiarize you with important basics of studying.

Orientation Days for international students
The International Office will provide information about formalities after arrival in Freiberg, about interesting facts about living and studying as well as about cultural standards in Germany. (Subject to change).
Start-of-studies info exchange
At the info exchange, you will get to know the contact persons of our service institutions, who will assist you with questions about the start of your studies.

Distribution of free University Backpacks for all first-year students:Inside who participated in the freshman survey. The Ersti-Rucksack is full of informational materials and giveaways for a successful start to your studies.

Subject-related introductions in the faculties
For all study programs are study introductory events in the faculties beginning at 1:00 p.m. on October 2. Here, study organizational questions in the study program will be explained, the examination and study regulations will be explained and the timetable will be presented.
Attendance at the subject introduction is strongly recommended.

University learning courses
Introduction to e-learning tools and online services
The e-learning department offers online seminars on digital teaching for all first-year students. The teaching platform OPAL as well as web conferencing systems will be introduced.
For first-year students in German-language degree programs, the course will be held in German:

Introductory course "Efficient Learning"
In preparation for university teaching,faculty 2 studentsare offered an introductory subject-based course that allows you to practice skills such as organizing your studies, independent and planned learning, and methodically linking knowledge modules.
Students from other faculties are welcome.
