  • General objective: ex-situ investigation of phase transformations and phase equilibria in the GPa pressure range
  • Methods: complementary analysis of quenched and decompressed samples by XRD, SEM (with EDS and EBSD) and thermal analysis (DTA/DSC), if necessary, in-situ analysis at synchrotron facilities
  • Evaluation of: Crystal structure, phase fractions, chemical composition and microstructure of the products
  • Results: Inference of phase equilibria (XRD, chem. analysis) at high pressure and undergone phase transformations (from microstructure, EBSD)
  • CALPHAD modelling of phase equilibria at high pressure conditions for better understanding of experimental data as well as interpolation between typically few experimental data and (limited) extrapolation to other pressures/temperatures
