Prof. Marcus Wiens holds the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Innovation and Risk Management at the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg. He is also Principal Investigator at the Institute for Information Security and Reliability (KASTEL) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Marcus Wiens is full professor, holding a Ph.D. in Economics and a habilitation in Business Administration.

His research and work focuses on economic and systemic risk and innovation management, critical infrastructure protection (esp. cybersecurity), and cooperative approaches to risk and innovation management. Methodologically, he works with approaches from operations research, network modeling, game theory, experimental behavioral research, and empirical surveys. A focus of his activities is basic research and application-oriented, interdisciplinary research, the latter in the context of mostly publicly funded research projects.
