One of the Custody's main objectives is the utilisation of the collections for university teaching. In addition to the scientific teaching collections that are already used very frequently, the focus is also on collections of scientific and technical historical interest that are otherwise no longer used for teaching in other departments.

In the context of the Industrial Archaeology and Industrial Culture degree programmes, the Custody offers courses that are also available to students from other departments as free elective modules.
