The professorship's research focuses on areas including tribology, operational stability, the development of Innovative products and the behaviour of crash structures.

In the area of student training, the basic subjects in the field of machine elements and gear design are taught as well as various in-depth subjects on calculation, lightweight construction and modelling of structures.

At the Chair for Additive Manufacturing, we research, develop and teach the entire process chain of manufacturing technology, with a focus on additive manufacturing, also known colloquially as "3D printing", machining with geometrically defined cutting edges and surface finishing using plasma-electrolytic polishing.

In addition to all aspects of manufacturing technology, the professorship also covers the problem areas of design, CAD and production planning in student training programmes.
