Welcome to the Chair for Hydrogeology and Hydrochemistry
Understanding groundwater, solute and heat transport in the subsurface from field observations and laboratory experiments to process-based and data-driven models.
At the Chair of Hydrogeology and Hydrochemistry, we investigate groundwater flow and the transport and transformation of solutes, particles, microorganisms and heat in the subsurface. Our research combines hydrogeological field investigations, hydrochemical analysis, controlled experiments, numerical modelling and data-driven methods. We apply these approaches to groundwater resources and quality, contaminant transport, geothermal energy and subsurface thermal storage, managed aquifer recharge, and mining-affected water systems.
